I'm currently scouring the web for some kind of calculator, or a table, to tell me how much a beam, or in this case, a ramp, will deflect under load. So far all I can find are one's requiring an engineering to make work, or one's that don't cover the material I'm searching for. If it helps, the project will be ramps for a friends gooseneck trailer. It's a deck-over w/ a 5' dovetail, which is too steep to get cars on as is. He wants to build ramps long enough to go over the dovetail, and hook into the space between the dove and the deck. He was thinking of aluminum, to save weight, but I'm thinking of 2' or 2 1/2' x3/16' and 1/8' angle. I don't need exact data, just ballpark numbers. We don't want to make grossly overweight, mainly b/c we'll be the only two who'll be humpin' the things around to use. I thought of Beamboy, but it doesn't exist on yahoo anymore. If I find something else, I'll submit it for our 'Project Index', but any help would be appreciated.
